If the Ignite password needs to be changed on a monitored database instance, the following steps will provide guidance.

1. Determine the user that Ignite is using to monitor the database instance. This can be found in the Ignite GUI by clicking on the Options menu following by clicking on the "Update Monitored Database Instance Connection" link. You will get a screen similar to the following and the Ignite user is shown in the Monitoring User field. Note this example is for Oracle but the other platforms will be similar.

2. Using SQL Server Management Studio, Oracle Enterprise Manager, Sybase Central or other favorite tool, reset the password for the Ignite login. In this case, the password for the user named "deanpi" would be changed.

3. On the "Update Monitored Database Instance Connection" screen as shown in Step 1 above, check the Password box and modify the value in the text box to its right. Use the same password as specified in Step 2, i.e. make this password match the new password.

4. Click the Next button and Ignite will test the connection.  If successful, the password will be changed and the Ignite monitor restarted.
